The router is `the most versatile tool in the world` as I wrote in my pioneering book The Incredible Router (1989). With the router you can profile edges, trim wood flush, cut joints, screwthreads, shape wood, and more. It is the adze of the 21st century and can copy the past and shape the future. My first router was a Makita 1/2" model and I am in the fortunate position today of having handled most of the routers on the market - and like cars, there are hardly any bad ones !
